Given how critical a high level of well-being is to performing at peak and how important it is for leaders to walk the walk, this introductory program can help you build your personal DNA of Well-Being, perform at your best, and improve your impact on those closest to you and the world beyond. After all, we are all leaders, whether we’re executives, clinicians, or serving as role model for our families and communities. Learn to engage and develop the “meaning, strengths, emotions and energy” necessary to build better selves, high performance teams, and co-create patient outcomes.
Course Objectives:
- Define and describe the theories of evidence based positive psychology and behavioral change tools that can enhance patient education.
- Learn how these new tools this can be integrated into clinical practice on Monday.
- Explore the components of the “DNA of Well-Beings”, which will enhance your performance, product choices and patients outcomes.
Charting the Course for Change: Coaching Self-Care Practices
Wellness and economics are now intertwined. By 2030 government expenditures on healthcare are projected to reach 50% of government revenues, much of which could be avoided if people do now what's needed to prevent disease. The impact of lifestyle choices health and well recognized. Therefore affecting behavioral change and motivating individuals toward better choices is an area of active interest and research. This course seeks to introduce clinicians to coaching tools that can improve their patients’ oral health choices, protocols and products.
Course Objectives:
- Define the “heart of self care” and identify tools for developing patient relationships.
- Assess a patient's readiness to change and tailor their education and coaching to the patient's stage of change
- Understand and integrate evidence based behavioral change and coaching principles into your patients’ self care practices and treatment outcomes.
Promising Outcomes: Basic How to Coaching for Leaders and Peers
The desire to improve individual performance and productivity is the most widely cited reason for using a coach. The new domains of positive psychology and coaching psychology have taught us much about what it takes to be at our best with respect to health, well-being, and performance at home and work. This workshop is appropriate for those new to coaching and or involved in peer to peer coaching.
Topics will include:
- Introduction to coaching including a summary of the history of coaching, and roots of coaching in the science of behavior change
- What coaching is and what it is not
- Motivational Interviewing, Open ended Inquiry, Active Listening,
Planning and Goal Setting
Enamel Therapy: The Next Generation of Care
A changing paradigm in caries management has widened our decisions in dental preventive care. With terms such as “minimally invasive” and “remineralization technologies,” we are faced with a new decision model in diagnosing and treating the caries disease process. This program will review the historic trends in caries control and introduce the exciting new trends in desensitization, topical fluorides, prophy pastes and varnish therapies.
Course Objectives:
- Discuss trends in the management of caries in all patient profiles and age groups.
- Compare and discuss the current delivery systems which contain technologies claiming enamel restoration and remineralization.
- Formulate an effective treatment plan in enamel therapy.
DNA of Well-Being: the Mapping of High Performance for
Professionals and Practices
The new domains of positive psychology and coaching psychology have taught
us what it takes to be our best. Professionals can no longer afford to only
address cognitive capacitates while ignoring the evidence which demonstrates
the connections between sustainable high performance and overall wellness
Using a DNA metaphor, this program will exemplify five science-based areas
of health and well-being. Our relationships are the double-stranded backbone
of our practices. Learn to engage and develop the “meaning, strengths,
emotions and energy” necessary to build better selves, high performance
teams, and exceptional patient outcomes.

- Introduction to the Well Coaches® DNA of Well-Being Model and it’s relevance to oral care and dentistry
- Integrating evidence based behavioral principles for co-creating successes with patient’s outcomes and self-care choices.
